Family
of the Month
Maria Hoyos for her
positive attitude, hard work in class, and involvement with
her children.
A
Success Story
Amelia Gomez entered
out family literacy program facing several life
challenges. In a short period of time she has worked
hard to overcome many of those challenges. We salute
the positive changes she has made to improve her family
situation.
Adult
Education
The Ybor city walking tour
was a successful learning experience. Ms. Serralles
was the tour guide pointing out meaningful historical
landmarks and sharing early Ybor City stories that lined
Elvis Presley, and John Wayne to its past. Mrs.
Garcia, Centro Asturiano President, hosted a tour of the
Centro Asturiano building. She stated that the first
English classes in Tamp were held in Ybor city social
clubs. We also learned that the Centro Asturiano was
the first HIM in the state of Florida, dating back to the
early 1900s. The tour ended with a lunch in the Latam
Restaurant at the Centro. Richard Davison will soon be
sharing the photos.
Something
Funny!
The Ybor
city walking tour got bigger as we went along. We
noticed that the tourists were joining the group. One
asked for the price and when does the next tour begin.
One person stayed to the end of the tour.
Parenting
Tell you
children exactly what you want them to do and show them how
to do it. If you want your child to stop whining when
he or she wants something, show them how to ask for
it. Manually guiding your child through the desired
action helps them understand exactly what you want them to
do.

Toy
Safety: Use a toilet paper roll and drop a small toy in
the hole÷ if it falls through÷ it is
not a safe toy for small children.
A
Thank You Message
I want to
thank everyone for the great birthday celebration. The
music, flowers, gifts, letters, and my face in the cake are
all special memories. --Sincere thanks, Ms.
Serralles
